F is for Family!

I had the privilege of taking pictures of this beautiful family this spring! I never get tired of freckles...they are so beautiful! It's so fun taking pictures of people I love.

Mr. G

This guy is such a handsome little man! He cracks me up every year and is finally giving me those winning smiles every.single.time. I love capturing him through my lens!

My Fix

Ok, the moment you have all been waiting for! The big reveal! I was super duper excited (like hands shaking excited) when my Stitch Fix box arrived! I started out being annoyed because my doorbell rang just as soon as I had started naptime (for my kids). Once I went to the door and saw that box sitting there naptime was hurried right along. I told my oldest to do whatever he wanted and locked myself in my bedroom to unfold the magic. Opening the box made me feel beautiful and lovely (when you are a mom you don't get many of those moments).
Well, my stylist obviously was already wonderful in my eyes. Then I found out her (his?) name was Shuchi and I knew it had to be fabulous. With a name like that how can you not have great taste? It like Gucci or Versace. Shuchi is definitely destined for great things in the fashion world.
I opened the tissue-wrapped packages and I immediately loved 4 of the 5 items. Let's begin the modeling magic, shall we? I've clearly missed my calling. ahem.

This shirt and skirt were both in my Fix. I opened the shirt first and it was the one item I immediately did not like. It's cream and navy stripes and has a faux necklace attached to the shirt. In all honesty here it kind of screamed "old lady" to me. I know I would love it if I saw it on someone else, but it just wasn't my personal style. However, in it's favor, it had a cool zipper halfway up the back to the top of the shirt. It was a heavy material so it felt like it wouldn't show every flabby part that might be trying to squeeze out. It definitely didn't cling to me but it felt fitted. Make sense? When you are in your 30s you need these things.
Let's talk about the skirt. I just "knew" I would be keeping the skirt the moment I laid eyes on it. Me and swing skirts are BFs. They make me want to twirl and twirl until I throw up. I'm all about beautiful imagery here. It was navy so I thought it would go with everything in my spring wardrobe. However, once I tried it on the length was just strange. The way I liked it best was with my tall boots. But I'm not going to pay $58 for a skirt unless it goes with every pair of shoes and every shirt in my closet. So, as much as I wanted it to work, it just wasn't working for me.

I'm sorry for blinding you with my legs in this picture. This infinity scarf was a keeper! I LOVED the color. It has dragonflies on it. The color just made me feel warm and springy and looked good with my skin tone (deathly pale at the moment). It would go with just about any base color. I even held it up to a mint colored shirt and loved it with that.
Big shout out to my hubby who kept running out with me into the chilly February weather to snap my photo. I might have been telling him how to do something with my camera here.
So....these pants. I loved the color. So springy and beautiful. They were a wee bit snug (yes, I know they were skinny jeans, but they are not all created equal).
So I just "knew" I would keep these too when I first saw them, but once I tried them on they were seriously ten feet too long! Well, maybe about 4 or five inches. I have an obscene amount of pant tucked into my boots in these pictures. I even tried them on with tall boots and they were just uncomfortable. They bunched all the way from my ankle to my  knee. When I first put them on I thought "handy, I am getting pants and socks." I'm definitely giving feedback that I am not as tall as they think I am. The skirt and the pants were meant for someone a good 3 or so inches taller than me. Also, I will tell them that I won't pay $88 for colored jeans. A regular pair that fits great? Probably. But only because I wear the living daylights out of my jeans.
Ok, how cute is this shirt? I got my Fix the day before Valentine's Day and I was so tempted to keep this shirt and wear it the next day. But I'm not one to normally wear hearts so again, won't be paying $48 for a shirt that I don't absolutely love. If the hearts were birds? Maybe....
Stylistically speaking, I was really pleased with my first Fix! As far as the fit goes, you give them feedback about each piece so they can do better next time. Oh, there will for sure be a next time. I will give them a chance to show me they can send me shorter pants and skirts and no granny shirts. You have to pay $20 for your Fix. That it credited to your account and I bought the $28 scarf so I came out just fine.

C Family

There is no doubt in my mind these kids will grow up to be actors someday. :) They are so comfortable in front of the camera! They crack me up constantly with their silly faces! It's always a fun time with them.

L Family

It is always so fun to shoot sessions with families I know. This family works with me on Sunday mornings in the PreK room at our church. So we've been through a lot together! :) I love watching their kids grow and mature...so fun!

G Family

Every year this family brings new, fun props. I love seeing what they will think up next! Shot this session at Antelope Valley Park. It was a great new venue.

B Family

It's sort of tradition to start with this family's pictures every fall. They were my first "clients" back when I really had no idea what I was doing! They have stuck with me and each year we get some great pictures. Even Bentley, the dog, will smile for me. :)
